Kalhoung Restaurant Serves Delicious Traditional Thai Food By Chao Phraya River
Recently we had a class reunion for the old grade school in Bangkok. All the sudden somebody in the old class decided to get together, after 40 odd years we finally had a class reunion.
We had the gathering at Kalhoung Restaurant, owned by one of my best friends of the old school. It was a nice surprise seeing somebody you had not seen in about forty odd years.Anyway, this restaurant has been at this location, right behind the National Library and Tayvarachkunchorn Temple for the longest time. You just proceed toward the main entrance of the temple, and turn right before you enter the entrance, then keep on driving toward the river until you get to the restaurant. You cannot miss it.
Here, you have mainly traditional Thai dishes. Their seafood menu is simply delicious, especially the steam fish with spicy topping. Barbecue river shrimps are also popular here along with fried bean sprout and noodles. The atmosphere is simply unique when you have lunch or dinner right by the Chao Phraya River. You watch the boats go by while you have this delicious meal. I had gone there twice so far and I simple love the food there.
There are quite a few European tour groups came to lunch while I was there, and they seemed to enjoy the meal.To top it all off, you can have fun feeding the fishes; they have been cultivating here for some time. See photos.
